The large, dramatic foliage of the fatsia is viewable from the kitchen/living space and is under-planted with evergreens and ferns - this trio of planting will provide interest all year round with little need for maintenance.
Evergreen climbers ‘encase’ the space creating a sense of privacy and a fragrant enclosure.
On the northern side, a new border houses copper coloured ferns and shade-loving perennials which spill out underneath the existing cordyline.
Alliums will pop up in late spring/early summer, followed by the existing crocosmia.
It’s a garden for a busy London family who need their garden to work hard for them, not the other way around.
“After almost a year of building work, our ‘garden’ was a mud pit. Anna transformed it into a lush, green space - a space we now love to look at and spend time in.
The wildlife loves it too - I’ve never seen so many butterflies! We’ve also benefitted from Anna’s horticultural knowledge. We used to plant anything anywhere and most of it died, but Anna has advised us on what works where and now our plants are thriving”.
