This client had already nailed the hard landscaping and layout of their garden. Tall white pots, Corten planters and neat lines and symmetry created a contemporary space suited to the hotness of their south-facing garden. They had also had the foresight to plant pleached laurels at the back of the garden - which provide much needed shade to part of the sun-baked garden.
What they hadn’t mastered however, were the bits in between.
Plants in the beds and fruit trees in pots were failing and letting the garden and its style down.
This new planting palette brings a bit of ‘Palms Springs’ to the space. Grasses and vibrant pops of Mediterranean colour have been introduced to the pots whilst at the back, in the shade, a forest of ferns has been planted around a cool place to sit and play.
Side beds have been filled with structural planting in hues of vibrant yellows and greens, in keeping with the stylish palette and providing all year round interest in foliage and texture, without creating too much work for this busy family.
